Attracting a very large audience every year, VIFF is among the five largest film festivals in North America. There are screened films from 80 countries on 10 screens (btw, who’s the one who can watch all of them? )

The area around Whistler is already known as one of the most spectacular sceneries in the world:

Nairn Falls is home to some very special wildlife.  We walked on a trail of 1,5 km to see this refreshing beauty, the dramatic result of the erosive power of water:

The next stop was in Pemberton, where we had our lunch. Here it starts the adventure of the wilderness.

The Lower Joffre Lake is a magnificent area where everything is so quiet; it’s another world, a natural land of icefields, where you just admire the turquoise-blue of the water and the glacier-laden peaks:

The spectacular begins; you are so close by the mountains… closer then you can ever imagine, and nobody’s around; you just go further, but you don’t know where you go; it’s like you are at the border of the world:

We stayed overnight in Lillooet, one of the oldest communities in British Columbia. It looks like a real wild west village, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Coast Mountain Range and Fraser Canyon.

In the next day, we had our breakfast to the Historic Hat Creek Ranch, a place that recalls the 1860s Gold Rush and Native History:

Lytton is another unique place situated where the Thompson River meets the Fraser River; and yes, you can clearly see how the 2 colors came together:

We had a few more stops on the way to Vancouver. We continued to explore the Fraser Canyon, another incredible part of the Beautiful British Columbia.  

Today, when it comes about an adrenaline rush of acrobatics in a crazy, unconventional land of fairy-tales I wouldn’t miss the chance to watch live such of a wonderful show; especially if this is performed by one of the most famous circuses in the world! You already guessed: I went to Cirque du Soleil!

Actually, the show was not a part of our cruise to Mexico; Cirque du Soleil is in Vancouver now, so we took advantage to watch their unique show, just a few days ago. Despite of the cold and rainy weather of that day (the first rainy day since their first performance in Vancouver during this summer), we enjoyed every single moment acted in the The Grand Chapiteau (where it was very warm and nice ).

KOOZA is a show that tells a melancholic and magical story of an Innocent character, a loner who’s trying to search his place in the world. This character could be, sometimes, any of us; and we are always impressed by ambitious people who are around us and who always “make it happen”. In the same way, this Innocent and us, the spectators, were captivated by the human performance in all its splendour presented in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, and total involvement.

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to have a camera during the show, so I posted the  pictures from Cirque du Soleil website.  

“This is great!” he said “I hope you’ll have a great time. I’m actually from LA”.

“Really? We’ll stay in LA for a few days, after we’ll be back from the cruise. What do you suggest us to visit there, in just a few days?”

“I would recommend you the Universal Studios”, he said.

Of course, we were thinking about the same think, but we still didn’t visit the Universal Studios yet; we’ll go into another trip for that. 

The flight was less than 3 hours; it was a beautiful sunny morning; there were some turbulences, not very strong, but enough to make me feel a little bit uncomfortable (usually I’m a little bit nervous while flying ); anyway, the comedy that I watched, The Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey made me forget that I was in the plane. I would recommend you all to watch this movie, it’s really funny.

About the LAX Airport what can I say? It’s HUGE! It’s much bigger than Vancouver Airport… but also very noisy, with a lot of traffic.  

To get to the port of San Pedro from the airport it was much easier then we expected. Why was it that easy? Because once again, Royal Caribbean proved to be a great planner, thinking at every single detail to satisfy its customers. Their buses were waiting for us in the airport, so they drop us directly on board. We didn’t even carry our luggages. They took them by themselves with a special bus; in the evening, all the luggages were already onboard, in front of each room.

It took less than 45 minutes to the port of San Pedro. We were impressed on the way by the very tall palm trees, but nothing else since we travelled just on the highway. And finally, here she is! The beautiful Mariner of the Seas, a shiny immensity, a luxurious floating resort was waiting to lead us into the paradise. “Welcome onboard!” the smiling crew members greeted us. These friendly smiles make you feel so comfortable! It’s another proof that the guests are so important for them. 

OK, as my thoughts already mentioned, I’m back from my vacation, but I’m still “recovering” :) If you read the first lines of my post, you have to know the words are not enough to describe the paradise I’ve seen; because even you believe or not, yes, I’ve seen the paradise and more than that, I lived there for a few days.

For 10 days, we explored and discovered a beautiful land that offers a vibrant culture, serenity and adventure. I have so many fascinating stories to tell, and I’m planning to make kind of a trip journal for you, starting from the first day on board, continuing with the comfort offered by Mariner of the Seas, amazing experiences and pictures we took on the tequila’s land, until the days spent in the middle of Hollywood’s glamorous movie industry where, maybe you won’t believe me, but we had the luckiness to see famous celebrities!

One of the most popular couples in the world stopped and got out of the car just in front of us. Do you guess who they are? The beautiful Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt! For real!!! I’ll be back with more details about this lucky event and about all the other beautiful experiences in my travel journal. This time, we will explore the Mexican Riviera together.
